MG has unveiled its first SUV in India.

MG (Morris Garages) Motor India has unveiled its first product in India, the Hector. The SUV will be launched in India by June 2019 and the pre-bookings will be opened by early next month. The Hector comes with a host first in segment features including a 10.2 infotainment system along with over 50 connectivity features and a mild hybrid technology with powered by a 48 Volt lithium-ion battery.

The Hector is a good looking vehicle, gets sleek styling elements for the exterior and the interior. The Hector will be a made in India product with 75% localization. MG will begin shipments of the Hector SUV within the next few weeks to its 120 outlets across 50 cities. The carmaker aims to expand its network to 250 outlets by the end of September this year. 

The Hector will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options along with a mild hybrid option. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol produces 143 PS and a  250 Nm of peak torque while the 2.0-litre diesel churns out 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine will be mated with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) automatic transmissions. However, the petrol hybrid and diesel will be mated to 6-speed manual transmission. The Hector will compete against the Jeep Copass, Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV5OO in India.
