Mahindra will introduce the next-generation of Scorpio, Thar and XUV5OO by 2020.
Mahindra recently launched Marazzo MPV, Alturas and XUV3OO in India, all the new products are accepted well in the market, the company now seeking to upgrade its models due to the upcoming mandatory safety norms and new emission norms that kicks in by 2020.
Apart from the new product lineup, few models will get a minor facelift, while others will get replaced with next-generation products. As per new reports, Mahindra is now working on the next-generation of the Thar, Scorpio and XUV5OO.
The test mule of the next-generation Thar has been spotted multiple times, seems bigger than the current model while receives the same old school design. Unlike the current model, the next-generation underpin by a new platform and expected to come with improved on-road and off-road ability, which will go on sale by early 2020.
The Mahindra Scorpio has a huge fan following over the years, the SUV now in its 4th-gen avatar, doing well in the market and sold over 4000 units last month. The next-generation Scorpio has been codenamed Z101 and it is expected to be launched in 2020, it will get underpin by an all-new platform as well.
The new XUV5OO which is due for an end-2020 launch, which will be larger than the current model and come with improved 3rd-row seats. All three SUVs will come powered by the same 2.0-litre, 4-cyl, BS6 compliant diesel engine, will come with different states of tune. The Thar is likely to get a lower 140 HP with nearly 300 Nm tune while the Scorpio will get slightly higher at 160 HP tune along with higher torque. While the new generation Mahindra XUV500 which will get the most powerful 180+ HP tune, there will be an increase of 30 HP over the current power output.
