Maruti Suzuki has launched the BS-6 Swift in India.

Maruti Suzuki has been launched the BS-6 compliant Swift in India, priced from Rs. 5.14 lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs.8.89 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), which is Rs. 15,000 more than the outgoing BS-4 model. Swift has been one of the best selling car for the company, it has been on sale in India since 2005. In 2018, Maruti Suzuki has brought the third-generation Swift in India.

Maruti Suzuki only updated the 1.2-litre petrol engine as BS-6 compliant, while the 1.3-litre diesel remains unchanged. All Maruti Suzuki diesel cars that come with the 1.3-litre diesel engine, which will no longer be on sale from April 1, 2020. The company will continue to sell petrol engines along with more powertrains such as CNG and electric. The company has newly introduced 1.5-litre diesel engine, while it will decide to convert it to BS-6 or not based on market demand.

Previously the Swift was offered with dual front airbag, ABS, EBD and driver-side seatbelt reminder as standard. In this update, it gets more safety features such as co-driver seatbelt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard across all the variants. The updated 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine continues to produce 83PS at 6000 RPM and 113Nm torque at 4200 RPM, it is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT.
